The Purchasing Assistant supports the Purchasing Manager and production teams by assisting with procurement activities, inventory management, and ERP system transactions. This role plays a key part in ensuring materials, parts, and supplies are accurately tracked, ordered, received, and issued to support shop production and project schedules.

About the Role:
The Purchasing Assistant supports the Purchasing Manager and production teams by assisting with procurement activities, inventory management, and ERP system transactions. This role plays a key part in ensuring materials, parts, and supplies are accurately tracked, ordered, received, and issued to support shop production and project schedules.
Responsibilities:
Purchasing & Inventory Support:
- Perform daily inventory checks on critical materials and weekly inventory checks on high‑moving parts.
- Maintain inventory levels on key items and assist with organizing shop inventory.
- Issue parts from inventory based on BOMs and record activity in corresponding spreadsheets.
- Issue plate from burn packets to the appropriate project.
- Inspect incoming materials and match packing slips to invoices.
- Scan documentation and enter information into the ERP system.
- Close out invoices in Acumatica and route to Accounting for processing.
- Request RFQs from vendors and assist with vendor communication.
- Create purchase orders in Acumatica.
- Support vendor relationships through accurate communication and follow‑up.
- Utilize Acumatica ERP for issues, receipts, purchase order releases, project transactions, and subaccounts.
- Understand the significance of ERP transactions and maintain accurate system records.
- Import parts from AutoCAD into Sigma Nest.
- Nest parts in Sigma Nest to generate programs for the burn table.
- Provide backup support to production as needed.
- Create parts books for projects.
- Support the Purchasing Manager with daily tasks and administrative needs.
Candidate Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Basic math skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with vendors and internal teams.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed to support production and project demands.
- General knowledge of AutoCAD
- Experience with Outlook and Microsoft Teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow established processes and maintain accurate records.
- Team‑oriented mindset with a willingness to assist across departments.
