Job Title:         Staff Accountant
Location:         Shelbyville, KY (not remote)
Terms:             Full Time
Salary/rate:    $60,000 - $70,000 (Based on experience)

About the Role:         
We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The Staff Accountant will perform general accounting and related duties, ensuring accurate and timely financial operations within the organization. This role requires proficiency in accounting principles and excellent communication skills.
 
Responsibilities:        

  • Perform general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closings.
  • Enter credit card expense upload into Acumatica
  • Assist the department with annual insurance and financial audits.
  • Assist in reconciling bank accounts at least monthly, verify deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Assist in reconciling cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
  • For accounts receivable, prepare monthly statements for mailings; manage collections; research billing issues; and set up new customers, including running credit reports on prospective customers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and cross-trained.
 
Cross-Train Functions:
  • General payables (payables from inventory and project POs, miscellaneous vendor invoices).
  • Code invoices, set up new accounts and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Key accounts payable invoices in system.
  • Run credit checks and new customer set ups.
  • Verify and/or complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
 
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Associate's or bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and basic cost accounting.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • General ledger knowledge.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Acumatica ERP systems, or similar software, and accounting software.
  • Working knowledge of Excel pivot tables and functions.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry office materials or equipment up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to work in an environment with typical office noise levels (phones, printers, conversation).

  • Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive company information.
