About the Role
We’re on the hunt for a Marketing Coordinator, an energetic, creative, detail-loving teammate who’s ready to dive into social media, content creation, and all things tourism marketing. This is a hands-on role where no two days look alike: one day you might be scheduling TikToks, the next you’re helping host a travel writer, and the next you’re updating our website with the latest events. If you’re excited about telling stories, making connections, and bringing visitors to our community, this might be the role for you.
Primary Responsibilities:
Digital Content & Social Media
- Create and schedule engaging content across all ShelbyKY social media channels
- Respond to and engage with online audiences using the established brand voice
- Maintain and update website content, including listings, events calendar, and blog posts
Writing & Communications
- Write and edit blogs, press releases, and marketing copy in AP style
- Assist in drafting and proofreading brochures, sales sheets, visitor guides, and other promotional materials
Marketing & Public Relations Support
- Help coordinate marketing and PR projects, including campaigns, photo/video shoots, and media outreach
- As needed, attend/represent ShelbyKY during hosted media visits, media trade shows, etc.
- Maintain department calendar (deadlines, events, on-brand holidays)
- Represent ShelbyKY Tourism at community events, trade shows, and meetings
Other Tasks
- Ensure all content and materials align with ShelbyKY’s brand standards
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the Vice President or President & CEO
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND 1-2 years of prior experience in marketing, PR, or social media management
- Experience working with journalists, influencers, content creators, photographers, videographers, etc.
- Excellent writing and editing skills; knowledge of AP style preferred
- Familiarity with social media platforms and basic scheduling tools (Sprout Social)
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general tech tools
- Valid Kentucky driver's license
- Knowledge of ShelbyKY’s tourism assets (attractions, restaurants, lodging, etc.)
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, video editing software, and other design tools
- Basic knowledge of website management
Work location and hours:
- Full-time in-person in Shelbyville, KY (Due to the nature of this position’s responsibilities, this role is not eligible for remote or hybrid work)
- Work will generally be conducted from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday-Friday, but occasional evening/weekend availability is required
- Intra- and inter-state overnight travel for conferences, meetings, and events may occasionally be required
Compensation and benefits:
- $40,000 – $50,000 annually. Eligible for overtime.
