Backyard birders may think fall and winter are bad times to attract birds, but actually it can be a fantastic opportunity to see both migrant species and arriving winter residents. By attracting these birds, birders can enjoy a backyard flock while also enjoying the migrants they might not see at other times. Attracting birds is as easy as meeting their three primary needs of food, water and shelter. On Saturday September 28 from 2 pm until 3 pm, retired Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources educator, Joan Brown, will share her knowledge about bird identification, feeding and what it takes to create your very own backyard habitat. She’ll also provide details about how to participate in upcoming bird counts that the whole family will enjoy.Saturday September 28, 2013
