Barrel Proof

Susan Jackson

1128 Equity Street

info@smokeyourbourbon.com

The bourbon culture is exploding worldwide. Kentucky is the birthplace of bourbon, crafting approximately 95 percent of the world's supply. Kentucky's climate is perfect for the swelling and contracting of the white oak barrels allowing the bourbon to go in and out of the wood as it ages.

Kentucky currently has a historically high inventory of 8 million barrels located around our great Commonwealth. That means there are two barrels for every person living in the state. The idea for Barrel Proof Bourbon Bark Smoking Chips was born from numerous Kentucky evenings of Susan and Traci with their husbands discussing bourbon and grilling. The two entrepreneurially minded women decided to explore the use of the barrels as grilling chips anticipating that it would add a unique flavor to grilled foods while also reducing waste from the millions of bourbon barrels that might otherwise end up in our landfills, thus the birth of their new venture, Barrel Proof.

COMMUNITY IMPACT BREAKFAST

Thursday, November 7, 2024, 7:30-9:00 am

Shelbyville Conference and Welcome Center

219 7th St Shelbyville KY 40065

Our history

In 1923, Kosair Shriners founded Kosair Charities Committee, Inc. to meet the medical needs of children in Kentucky. In 1926, they opened Kosair Crippled Children Hospital, a place that served all children regardless of medical condition or financial standing. As the needs of children evolved, Kosair Charities transitioned from being a direct service provider to becoming the most comprehensive children’s nonprofit in Kentucky and southern Indiana.

As a nonprofit organization,

we are dedicated to transforming lives by providing crucial support for medical care and emotional assistance. We bring joy and relief to children and families through partnerships with local nonprofits and our financial assistance program. Each year, Kosair for Kids reaches kids in every Kentucky county.

COMMUNITY IMPACT BREAKFAST DESCRIPTION

The Community Impact Breakfast is designed to educate and bring awareness of the support Kosair for Kids provides to children in Shelby and surrounding communities. It will generate funds necessary to help Kosair for Kids continue to pay medical bills for children, fight child abuse and neglect, invest in children’s nonprofits, and provide unique experiences that allow kids to be kids; in other words, the Breakfast will generate the resources needed to provide joy, care, and hope to our children.

To participate in our breakfast, please contact Sarah Flowers, Senior Regional Development Director, at sflowers@kosair.org or 502-468-6769.
