Vocational or other technical school, certification, training or apprenticeship required beyond high school and one year of related work experience within a golf course setting. Valid driver’s license and insurable by University insurance carrier. KY State Pesticide license as a pesticide applicator or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date; must have completed training requirement as required by the state and federal government, including those required by the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard. Extensive knowledge of safe mechanical operation and calibration of chemical application equipment including, but not limited to mechanically pressurized spray equipment, hand-operated spray equipment, hand-operated rotary spreaders, hand-operated drop spreaders, and utility tractors. Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs and pass a pre-employment physical required. Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and winter breaks in a variety of weather conditions will be essential to the job responsibilities. Grade 3 (Hourly)Position Description:
The Spray Technician at the University of Louisville Golf Club (ULGC) in Simpsonville, KY is responsible for performing chemical applications on golf course properties; fertilizing tees, greens and fairways; and applying chemicals on the greens. The position is responsible for reading, understanding and keeping current with chemical labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), while also compiling preliminary reports of pesticide usage for the Superintendent.
The Spray Technician will be required to work a non-standard workweek, including nights, weekends, holidays, and during winter break as needed and work in a variety of weather conditions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs chemical applications on greens and fairways/golf course properties.

Fertilizes trees, greens and fairways.

Performs routine safety and inspections on all spraying equipment.

Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas to be compliant with county, state, and federal regulations, and is responsible for the safety and direction of chemical handlers and/or helpers.

Tracks chemical inventory for preliminary reports of pesticide usage for Manager, Golf Course Operations (Superintendent).

Keeps track of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Grounds Maintenance (Senior Assistant Superintendent) and/or Manager, Golf Course Operations (Superintendent).
Target Compensation Maximum:
$27.85Target Compensation Minimum:
$18.56Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
