Position
Central District Health Department is recruiting for a full time Information Technology Specialist. This position serves under the direction of the Environmental Director. The salary range for this position is $23-$32 an hour.
The IT Coordinator will serve as the primary support person for all things technology-related at North Central District Health Department. The ideal candidate will have a wide range of experience supporting varied systems and hardware. This position supports employees at six (6) facilities across Henry, Shelby, Spencer and Trimble counties. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two (2) years professional experience supporting IT systems, applications, hardware and networks.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to;
• Provide first-level IT support, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, manage user accounts and permissions, perform basic network administration tasks and assist in setting up and maintaining IT equipment.
• Provide consultation, assistance and assesses agency needs and plans for the use, selection and purchase of technology and communication hardware and software.
• Responsible for maintenance and support of key technology systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability, and working with vendors and Manage Service Providers, as necessary.
• Works with agency departments to assist with troubleshooting and implementation of new technology applications and upgrades.
• Responsible for maintenance of the network to ensure it is in proper working order.
• Responsible for planning and implementing a system backup and recovery program.
• Train health department staff on use of technology and communication system hardware and software.
• Maintain district’s internet access and web page.
• Review technical literature; attend meetings and training opportunities to remain current with scientific, educational, and medical developments related to information systems technology and the use of that technology.
Additional skills and experience needed in:
• Configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting PCs, peripherals and applications in a domain environment.
• Supporting Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy Objects.
• Supporting the Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
• Endpoint management systems and mobile device management systems – ManageEngine a plus.
• Working with vendors and Manage IT Service Providers.
• Knowledge of asset management practices, policies and standards.
• Knowledge of Cyber Security and Disaster Recovery protocols
• Ability to manage workload with minimal supervision.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Coordinate the IT aspects of onboarding new hires and offboarding departing employees.
Experience with systems below is a plus:
• VIOP Phone systems
• IP-based Access Control systems (door proxy/FOB systems)
• IP-based Security Cameras
• Management of Apple Devices
• Building alarm systems
• Software Licensing
• Workday
Minimum Education, Training or Experience: Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years’ experience in a multi-user operating system.
Substitution for Education, Training or Experience: An associate degree in IT or Network Technology and two (2) years of experience providing technical assistance related to network equipment or software may substitute for the required experience. A bachelor’s degree in computer science will substitute for one year of the experience requirement. Related technical or vocational training could substitute for the bachelor’s degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
