JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Clinic Nurse Part-Time
Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited nursing school and possess an active unencumbered nursing license in the state of Kentucky and BLS certification. Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with EMR documentation.
Reports to: This position serves under the direction of the Clinic Director.
Compensation: Hourly
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Provide Nursing services in accordance with clinic policies and established protocols within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act, KRS 314.
- Participate in orientation and ongoing training
- Ensure that the conduct and standard of care at Mercy Medical aligns with the mission statement of Operation Care.”
- Ensure check-in process is completed and triage patients prior to provider encounter.
- Prepare patient for clinic visits by updating all pertinent medical information, and obtaining then documenting vital signs.
- Maintain patient electronic medical records in accordance with administrative standards and in accordance with HIPAA, state, and federal laws. Only access medical records needed to provide care to patients you are caring for and within clinic hours.
- Oversee inventory, stocks, and inform director of need to order medical supplies accordingly.
- Maintain a clean work environment by sanitizing work areas between patient encounters and at end of workday.
- Practices confidentiality and strict adherence to privacy protocols in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
- Receive, prioritize, document and respond to incoming clinical calls/inbox as appropriate.
- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with physician and other staff.
- Update Clinic Calendar monthly and coordinate volunteers.
- Lead daily staff briefing when Clinic Director is not present.
- Assist volunteers with workflow issues as they arise.
- Autoclave dental and surgical instruments weekly and submit weekly specimen to University of Louisville Sterilizer Program.
- Perform blood draws.
- Review labs daily and report abnormal labs to Medical Director or provider on duty as needed.
- Place lab specimens in Quest box at end of day for pickup.
- Perform monthly chart audits.
