Blue Meta Design is a creative design agency headquartered in Shelbyville, Kentucky. BMD has built a portfolio of clients across the United States, and is currently seeking a Part-Time Freelance Design Director, open to Full-Time transition for the right candidate.
This role is for a highly motivated graphic designer with 5+ years of experience who is eager to expand their skills into project and client management. You will be responsible for leading and managing aspects of client projects, including overseeing freelancers and managing budgets, while also utilizing your graphic design skills.
This position requires a passion for design, an eagerness to learn, an inquisitive mind, and the ability to take constructive criticism extremely well. The Design Director will thrive in a fast-paced environment where they can prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing client needs. This role requires strong problem-solving and organizational skills and will also involve projects that will require collaboration, managing freelance designers and budgets, and having a passion for smart, innovative design.
The Design Director will be responsible for advancing both their soft and hard skills by working closely with team members, exploring new skill sets, and participating in the agency’s monthly learning lessons.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Creative

Produce high-quality, error-free design work across various mediums (websites, presentations, print, digital, experiential) while adhering to brand guidelines and meeting client expectations

Ensure consistency in design quality and brand standards across all projects

Stay abreast of the latest design trends and technologies

Continuously challenge and inspire the design team and freelancers with innovative solutions
Project & Client Management

Provide a solutions-first approach with both internal and external issues

Lead and manage the execution of client projects, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget

Oversee the work of freelance designers, providing clear direction and feedback

Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively

Prepare and present project status reports to internal and external stakeholders

Build and maintain strong client relationships

Proactively identify and address client needs and concerns

Communicate design concepts and project updates effectively and confidently

Criteria:
Compensation: $36.54 — $38.94 / hour, minimum of 20 hours/week
Graphic Design Experience: 5+ years
