SCCT Summer Workshops for Children

Three children’s workshops will be offered this summer at Shelby County Community Theatre. We are thrilled to also offer two children’s workshops hosted in Simpsonville, KY. Each session will teach different skill sets as well as build on previously developed skills. Children are welcome to enroll in all!
 

Acting 101 will focus on the fundamentals of theatre, including vocalization, characterization, movement, and audition techniques. This workshop will culminate in a showcase of monologues and short scenes.
Musical Theatre will include dance and vocal training and will culminate in the production of 2-3 musical numbers.
Play in a Week will be just that, a play produced in only a week. Children will go through a mini audition, block the show, learn how to work together with one another, memorize lines, and perform a short play in just one week!

SESSION I: JUN 20-24 at SCCT
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Acting 101 (Showcase JUN 24 5:30 PM)
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Play in a Week (Showcase JUN 24 4:30 PM)

SESSION II: JUL 11-15 at SCCT
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Play in a Week (Showcase JUL 15 5:30 PM)
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Musical Theater (Showcase JUL 15 4:30 PM)

SESSION III: AUG 1-5 at the Simpsonville Gym
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Acting 101 (Showcase AUG 5 5:30 PM at SCCT)
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Play in a Week (Showcase AUG 5 6:30 PM at SCCT)

~Kid’s workshops are open to children who have finished the 2^nd-8^th grade with all levels of talent and experience.  Space is limited for each group so enroll now!
~The cost for attendance is $150 per participant for one workshop, $285 for two workshops, or $405 for three. Additional workshops are $150 each.

About the Instructor: Emily Kees is an active member of the Shelby County Community Theatre. She has acted in several productions with the theatre, as well as many others prior to becoming active with SCCT. She participated in dance and theatre as a child and throughout college. She has extensive experience teaching children, and is thrilled to be a part of the Academy yet again after great success with the spring session of classes!
