Master Gardener plant sale Shelby County Master Gardeners will have their annual plant sale on Saturday, May 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Extension office. The sale will feature perennials dug from Master Gardeners’ yards as well as annuals, shrubs, vines, herbs and trees. Gardening vendors will also be on hand to sell vegetable plants as well as annuals and garden-related items. The Shelby County High School FFA will have their popular ferns to sell as well as other annuals and vegetables. A garden-themed yard sale will also be set up. And the church ladies will be serving breakfast and lunch. Many sale items will be outside, but others will be inside, so the sale goes on rain or shine. All proceeds from the sale help Master Gardeners care for the Tim McClure Botanical Gardens at Clear Creek Park. The Shelby County Master Gardener Association is trying to raise funds to pave the deteriorating paths throughout the garden as well as plant new trees and shrubs. Come out and support this worthy fundraiser and at the same time, get some plants you know will do well in your own garden because they have done well locally in the yards of local Master Gardeners. Also, check out the used book sale sponsored by Shelby County Homemakers.
