The Boy Scouts of America is proud of its 100 year heritage, and Scouting in Shelby County is alive and strong with over 400 youth involved throughout the program this last year. We are continuing to see young people grow and mature through well trained and committed volunteers. In order for this to be a reality, every year we host a dinner to honor an individual in the community that has exemplified what we desire our youth to become. This dinner is designed as a fundraiser to help support these Scouts in our local community. Our honoree is someone that demonstrates the principles and values set forth in both the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. This is a person that is involved, not just to support Scouting but through all aspects of community life. It is with great honor that we have selected Bobby Hudson as our 2014 Distinguished Citizen Award honoree. His generous contributions of time, talents and treasure throughout the community inspire our youth to lead, to accept responsibility and to care about principles and causes beyond self-interest.
