Carefree Living Luncheon in Shelbyville Supports Residents in Need

Shelbyville, KY (January 4, 2023) – Masonic Homes Kentucky will host its second annual Carefree Living Luncheon in Shelbyville at noon on Monday, February 13 at the Shelbyville Conference and Welcome Center. The event benefits Masonic’s Charitable Care, a program that continues Masonic’s mission to improve the lives of everyone they serve.

This year’s emcee and keynote speaker is Cheryl Van Stockum, owner of Cheryl Van Stockum Photography. Cheryl will talk about her former career as a nurse in long-term care, how it prepared her for caring for her own parents, and the impact Masonic Home Shelbyville has had on her family.

Masonic Home Shelbyville has been a pillar of the Shelby County community since 1901 when it was originally established as the Old Masons’ Home. In 1993, it transitioned into the states most award-winning long-term care community in Kentucky providing assisted living, personal care, skilled care and rehabilitation services to residents in Shelby County and the surrounding communities.

On average, Masonic spends $220 per day per resident to help fund quality care and housing, as well as living necessities like wheelchairs, glasses, transportation, meals, clothing and peace of mind. All proceeds from the Carefree Living Luncheon will be used to support charitable care at Masonic Home Shelbyville.

Carefree Living Luncheon committee members include: Ron Caughron, SVN Realtors; Belinda Nichols, Traditional Bank; Gary Walls, Shelby Life Magazine; Leon Mooneyhan, Retired Ohio Valley Education Cooperative; Ray Leathers, Shelbyville Chamber, Pat Hargadon, KY Farm Bureau; Aaron Garofola, UofL Health-Shelbyville Hospital; and Van Stockum.

For more information on Carefree Living Luncheon opportunities or Masonic Home Shelbyville, call 502.753.8861 or email giving@mhky.com.

Did you know that you are most likely eligible for ERC?

Claim up to $26,000 per Employee

APPLY TODAY

Hey,

I know you’ve likely heard about the ERC tax refund, right?

My name is John and I'm helping businesses to claim tax refunds for up to $26,000 per employee.

The ERC program is backed by the government to give businesses the ability to make back lost income from the difficult last years. Even though this is a great benefit for all businesses, my biggest challenge is to show that the ERC is legit and approved by the government.

To give you a quick understanding of what the ERC is and how you can claim $26,000 per employee, please have a look at this video:

I would also be happy to schedule a call so I can walk you through the process and show you what is needed to receive the tax refund.

How does your schedule look next week, would you have time for a 15min call?

Best regards

John

As a trusted real estate agent & advisor for my clients, I understand that selling and/or buying a home is complex & deeply personal. There is a lot at stake financially & personally. This perspective on the process & the responsibility felt towards my clients drives me to truly be an expert at the job. I understand the market & all the variables in a real estate transaction. I want to make sure you feel supported & have a trusted advisor by your side.

In 2021, I received my Kentucky Realtors license, while still living in Indiana. I knew, growing up in KY, I would be returning soon. My love for this state runs deep while my Mom lives in Spencer County & my Dad lives in Shelby County, the majority of both sides of my family live in the area. I myself just closed on a new home in Shelby County & within the historic district!

I joined the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, Spencer County Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce, all to get to know the neighborhoods, make long lasting friendships, while also supporting our local businesses.

I'm available for your questions, thoughts, and all real estate needs.

Coffee is a Love Language

by Shelby Moore

For many individuals, including myself, coffee is a source of connection and expression of love. Need to have a meeting with someone? Go to a coffee shop. Want to make your coworker’s day better? Bring them a coffee. In my mind, coffee creates connections. The Paddock coffee shop in Shelbyville, KY is the perfect example of this.  The Paddock opened its doors in August of 2019 under the ownership of Stacy Smith Rogers and her right-hand-woman, Samantha Beals. At the time, Samantha was a participant in Awake Ministries, a non-profit addiction recovery program in Shelbyville, Kentucky. She was a part of The Paddock team from day 1 and helped to developed many of their most popular recipes. Now she is one of the people taking the popular coffee shop into the next era as it went under the direction of Awake Ministries on December 19th. Now, just as it did for Samantha, The Paddock will support the residents of Awake Ministries and help to teach them job skills that they can take out into the world. Coffee connected Stacy and Samantha. Their connection and hard work created a space to connect the entire community. Now, the community can connect with and support the women who need it most.

Work Based Learning Students in Our Community

by Kelly McNew

Commonwealth Credit Union is a partner of Shelby County Public Schools with Work-Based Learning! Throughout the past 2 years they have allowed 4 students to come into their business, and gain experience as a teller. They have recently added an apprentice position to attract students from our business pathway that are interested in starting a career. Mary Gabbard, a CCU Supervisor, commented that one of their WBL students is a joy; she is a responsible collaborator and an effective communicator. She comes in with a great attitude each day and is always on time and takes ownership of her mistakes." We love having CCU as a partner and look forward to what is to come!

Director Spotlight

Belinda Nichols

Traditional Bank

Meet Belinda Nichols! In 2004, Belinda began her journey with Shelby County Chamber of Commerce volunteering as needed. It wasn’t until 2018 that she actually joined the board as Incoming President, then served two years as President, then two years as Past President. She will be leaving this board in November of 2023 and will again be on the sidelines volunteering.

Being a hometown girl, she started in banking as a teller and has worked in many different areas over the past 40 + years. She is currently with Traditional Bank as a Sr. Vice- President/Business Development Officer.  The Chamber has been a wonderful networking group that she has enjoyed connecting with over the

past 20 years. She has gained business and personal relationships by being involved. She considers these relationships all near and dear to her heart.

She is married to Les Nichols for the past 33 years and the couple has one daughter and son-in-law, Lynsey, and Josh Dennison. She has a 4-year-old Bassett Hound named Cooper and an adopted cat named Teddy. They live in Bagdad Kentucky.

Belinda loves our community and is truly blessed by it! She will continue to serve and be involved for the next 20 + years
