Volunteer Opportunity: 2015 Ohio River Sweep – Saturday June 20, 2015 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. On Saturday June 20th, we looking for volunteers to help with the 2015 Ohio River Sweep. Since 1989, this award-winning cleanup for the Ohio River and its tributaries brings thousands of volunteers to the riverbanks to collect tons of trash and debris. River Sweep encompasses the entire length of the river, from its origin in Pittsburgh, PA to its end in Cairo, IL, including nearly 3,000 miles of shoreline and many tributaries. Even though Shelby County is not on the Ohio River, we will be doing our part by cleaning up Clear Creek. Based on volunteer response, we hope to pick up several places along the creek such as Stratton Bottom, Elmo Head Park, Clear Creek Park and Lake Shelby. If the water levels are high enough, we hope to possibly float the creek from Lake Shelby to Red Orchard. If interested, contact me at trailblazers@shelbycountyparks.com. Wear clothes that can get dirty and closed toe shoes
