SUMMARY:Bree Artist / Poetry Showcase @ Sixth & Main Coffeehouse
DESCRIPTION:There will be an opening reception for Pleasureville\, KY artist Bree at 4pm on June 18th at Sixth and Main Coffeehouse (547 Main St. Shelbyville\, KY 40065). You can meet the artist\, who is originally from Cleveland\, OH\, and view her work the month-long\, from June 18th-July 17th. The event includes live poetry and you can also enjoy live music on Sixth Street starting at 6pm.\n\n\n\nBree (who only goes by her first name for art) left the big city for a more rural life in September of 2014. Surrounded by pastoral beauty inspired her to make drawing a career\, rather than a pastime or hobby. In 2016 she was awarded an Artist Enrichment Grant for the Visual Arts by the Kentucky Foundation for Women. Her grant project includes writing and producing the book Do Well of Must (Least Bittern Books 2016) which shows her progress as a self-taught female visual artist.\n\n\n\nMany of her drawings and collages can be found at http://www.theartistbree.com/ with posts about the experience of embarking on a new life as an independent DIY female artist. This is Bree's first art show\, and her first collection on canvas.
